Sixth song, third album. This song, and the video I made for it (see the "Media" section, or click on the Youtube link below for the video), were written two days before Christmas, 2017. I'd stopped speaking to my narcissistic de-facto mother-in-law, who'd been lying about me behind my back, and treating me like crap to my face, for seven years. She'd invited herself to stay for a week with us here in Sicily some months previously, and was so unpleasant I've actually written a symphony to commemorate it (read: deal with it). Her fresh batch of cloying passive-aggression and outlandish lies after her visit were enough to finally cut things. No one needs that kind of distraction when they're trying to do something.
So then, two days before Christmas (which might be an embarrasment if we did not take part in the yearly group Skype call with the family) she sent me a non-specific 3-line email "apology", taking special care not to address any of the lies she'd told, or perfectly amicable relationships she destroyed with those lies (eh, who needs friends who believe crap about you anyway, right?), in case she cites apologetic feelings for a lie that hasn't got back to me yet...
So the email read, "I am so very sorry for the anguish and pain I have caused you. Please forgive me. I wish I could undo it somehow."
Now, before I realised the power of writing music in dealing with "issues", it would have peeved me. If I didn't reply, I would be the Bad Guy, and ruin Christmas. If I did reply, it would place me in the position of playing along and putting myself back into that role of being abused by this woman, for appearances' sake (which I don't give a damn about), or of having a "scene" at Christmas, in which I would also be the Bad Guy. So I decided to cut through all that annoying crap, since I believe human relationships should be marked with Equality and Respect, and be the Bad Guy by turning her letter into a song and a video. I had Great Fun doing it, and laughed the whole time, especially making the video.
For the voice, I used one of the Apple “read-to-me” voices, slowed down. I’d hoped it would approximate her tone, but it was exact! I mean, exact!! Sometimes, the Universe works with you perfectly in these things…
If you have assholes in your life, I hope this song, and the story behind it, gives you strength.

So you want to download some nifty tracks? That's awesome!! Here's a little info about our dowloads.
When you purchase a track, you will be sent to a page with a direct link for downloading. If you're on an iPhone or other portable Apple device, thanks to Apple's sharey policies, it won't let you do it directly onto your phone (erm... I think you can from Apple's own stores, but that's not strongarmy or anything, that's... ahem, good business).
To download our tracks directly from us for use on an Apple device, you'll have to go to a desktop-format whizbang to get your track.... but you probably know that already. Still, worth mentioning, though, in case it's your first time. If you're on an Android or other OS device, things should go smoothly without the interim procedures.
BUT! No worries, no matter what. You'll also be sent an email with the download link to the track you've purchased, just so you don't lose it in life's bubblicious hubbub. The link in the email is valid for 30 days, so even if you don't download straight away (because, you know, you're at work and the boss just looked over your shoulder to see how that spreadsheet is coming along... or something), you'll still have it ready and waiting for you like that limoncello you put in the fridge for when you get home... If you get super-busy, or (like us in storm season) you suddenly lose internet connectivity for a whole month, don't worry! Fire us an email and explain what happened, and we'll re-send a new link right back to you. Truly "lossless" mp3s right here....
If you've bought the album(s), first of all, thank you! Those arrive to you in a zipped-up format (zip file). You'll need to unzip it (or maybe your super awesome device will do it automatically for you, in which case, yay) before you can put it where you want it and enjoy it. It's all pretty straightforward and simple, but if you do have any problems, fire us off an email and we'll work on it wth you.
Finally, thank you very much for buying our music directly from us. We work hard to make this stuff, and we're delighted if it touches something in you. Also, from a practical perspective, it helps us out a lot more since Wix, our internet host, doesn't take a cut like some other huge outlets. So you can feel happy to know that your track money is going directly to buy garlic for at least one hungry electronic music artist in Sicily without any middlemen (well, there's the taxman, but... he's a lifesucker in almost every region of the planet for little folks like us...).
And if you buy more than one track or album, we get coffee, too! Wooo!
(Ahem.) Please enjoy your downloads. That's what makes us truly happy.
