Eleventh song, fourth album. Retroverse! “Because the Future of the Retroverse…. is Now.”  That’s the tagline in the promo I made for the previous album, Babylon, which you can see here:

In Italian, “Retroverso” is, well, reversing, like in a car, or something akin to the “flip side” (to use an ancient coinage from the days of records and tapes), but you know how the mind works… all this Retro stuff, even from the 1980’s is increasingly popular as our world becomes… more difficult to deal with on a day-to-day basis (an idea I re-visit in the “1980’s Simulator” on Sirius).  By this time, people were asking more and more what “genre” I’d place this music into… like I’d know! I just make the stuff, it’s for everyone else to figure out where they want to box it into.  But I came up with the idea (around this time) that what this is, is FutureRetro. As in, it’s Now. It’s addressing now, the times we live in, but right now, it’s not something that’s done.

It hearkens back, sometimes, to the 1980’s, and to disco before that, then further back also sometimes into the 60’s, and back again to the old bluesmen I love listening to from the 1930’s into the 50’s… and then there’s the classical influences. But it’s not imitative (unless, you know, for a joke or a point I’m trying to make, musically), and its not backwards-facing. There’s a big long stream of music, and this is where I’m standing in it.  And that’s odd as a concept, maybe, and makes for some pretty different music. Not something you hear just anywhere.

I am a firm believer, however, that it will be awesome retro music sometime in the future… FutureRetro Electro.

Anyway! Please enjoy “Retroverse”.

  • So you want to download some nifty tracks? That's awesome!!  Here's a little info about our dowloads.

When you purchase a track, you will be sent to a page with a direct link for downloading. If you're on an iPhone or other portable Apple device, thanks to Apple's sharey policies, it won't let you do it directly onto your phone (erm... I think you can from Apple's own stores, but that's not strongarmy or anything, that's... ahem, good business).

To download our tracks directly from us for use on an Apple device, you'll have to go to a desktop-format whizbang to get your track.... but you probably know that already. Still, worth mentioning, though, in case it's your first time. If you're on an Android or other OS device, things should go smoothly without the interim procedures.

BUT! No worries, no matter what.  You'll also be sent an email with the download link to the track you've purchased, just so you don't lose it in life's bubblicious hubbub.  The link in the email is valid for 30 days, so even if you don't download straight away (because, you know, you're at work and the boss just looked over your shoulder to see how that spreadsheet is coming along... or something), you'll still have it ready and waiting for you like that limoncello you put in the fridge for when you get home...  If you get super-busy, or (like us in storm season) you suddenly lose internet connectivity for a whole month, don't worry!  Fire us an email and explain what happened, and we'll re-send a new link right back to you.  Truly "lossless" mp3s right here....

If you've bought the album(s), first of all, thank you!  Those arrive to you in a zipped-up format (zip file). You'll need to unzip it (or maybe your super awesome device will do it automatically for you, in which case, yay) before you can put it where you want it and enjoy it.  It's all pretty straightforward and simple, but if you do have any problems, fire us off an email and we'll work on it wth you.

Finally, thank you very much for buying our music directly from us.  We work hard to make this stuff, and we're delighted if it touches something in you.  Also, from a practical perspective, it helps us out a lot more since Wix, our internet host, doesn't take a cut like some other huge outlets. So you can feel happy to know that your track money is going directly to buy garlic for at least one hungry electronic music artist in Sicily without any middlemen (well, there's the taxman, but... he's a lifesucker in almost every region of the planet for little folks like us...).

And if you buy more than one track or album, we get coffee, too! Wooo!

(Ahem.) Please enjoy your downloads. That's what makes us truly happy.
