Taurus the Bull! (20 April - 20 May)
 
Many people make oversimplified assumptions about people born under the Earth sign Taurus, but these folks are more complicated than they at first seem.  It’s true, their “bullish” nature shines through in their tendencies towards stoic determination and down-to-earth practicality.   Taurus people are dependable, hardworking and intelligent. They’re adept at making plans and sticking to them, but can get pretty put out if anything comes along to upset things. This level of dedication and persistence with attention to meticulous detail tends to allow them to rise to prominence in their chosen fields: they have the habits and the talents that make for big success. If you push the bull, the bull will most certainly push back, however, and they can be a little unbending when it comes to the authority-worship expected in modern society.  If a Taurus person feels like someone is wrong or just a waste of time and energy, they don’t care who it is or how important they may be, they’ll speak out!  Taurus tends to form strong opinions that can set into dogma if they’re not careful (and this may account for the fact that there are more than a few famous dictators as well as “giants” in systematic fields like philosophy, psychology and political science who were born under Taurus!)  They also appreciate a well-ordered life and can be criticised by more volatile signs for being too resistant to change.
 
But lest we forget, the planet that rules Taurus is Venus, the goddess of Love.  And that’s where Taureans’ more complicated qualities start to really shine through. Taurus folks may be known for working hard, but they know how to play and relax just as hard! They are warm-hearted, easy-going and generous towards the people in their lives whom they feel they can trust. While Earthy practicality could lead them towards an ambitious materialism, Venus tends to soften this into a flair for the comfortable, especially in their home sphere, which is sacred to them. They love the cozy and comfy things and have a keen appreciation of art and luxury. They can also be quite sensitive and take offence strongly to heart, so be gentle with these tender bulls! While their more obvious qualities might make them seem like impossible workaholics, it’s just not true. They can be so expert at chilling out, they can seem downright lazy at times! Their meticulous nature and  focus allows them to create a beautiful, well-thought out world of comfort, and they know how to luxuriate in it.
