Virgo the Virgin! (23 August - 22 September)
 
Virgo is an Earth sign ruled by Mercury (the messenger god and uh, planet!). People born under this sign are hard-working, practical and verrrry meticulous. They may not be naturally disposed to wearing their hearts on their sleeves, but they possess a depth of feeling and passion that come out in subtle and remarkable ways. On top of this, their ability to focus can make their personalities feel very intense.  Virgo people have a very active inner life that, with their practical and methodical ways, can make them very successful in creative endeavours, not least because they have the patience, fortitude, and intense focus to work hard towards their goals. The only downside to this is their gigantic capacity to OVERTHINK things, and to overwork. Virgos also have a big talent for worrying, and left unchecked, can become wellsprings of self-generated anxiety that can really wear them down. Because Virgo people tend to have exacting standards for themselves, this makes them very effective in their endeavours, but they can come across as moody or overly-critical towards others at times when they forget that not everyone has the same level of perfectionism (they also tend to say things a little bluntly without realising that their obvious “facts” might actually come across as rude or hurtful). On the other hand, Virgo folks are extremely dependable, and that amazing patience, coupled with a natural tendency to enjoy and appreciate good friendships means that even if you have an argument with your Virgo friends, they will generally take some (likely very broody!) time, and come back to try again. Little things may irritate Virgos, and they may have a hard time being prised out of their set ways, but deep down they are generous, kind and loyal — it may take them some time to know best how to interact with some folks, but once they do, their expansive, warm hearts and affectionate natures can shine through, and they are wonderful and supportive friends and lovers.
